Areas of Practice:
John R. Dresser began his legal career in 1982. Like his father,
and his father before him, John is extremely active in the affairs
of the State Bar of Michigan and the Sturgis Community. John is
a Council Member of both the State Bar Business Law Section and
the Probate and Estate Planning Section. He is a fellow of the Michigan
State Bar Foundation and is the co-chair of the Agricultural Law
Committee of the Business Section. John is an active member in the
Business, Real Property and Probate and Estate Planning Sections
of the State Bar and is a speaker at programs through the State
Bar’s Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
The practice of law is his chosen profession while a true love is
community involvement. John has served on the Sturgis Area Chamber
of Commerce as a Board Member and is a past chairman of Michigan
Week. He was the Assistant City Attorney for a number of years and
has actively worked with the Economic Development Committee of the
City of Sturgis. He is a past president of the Sturgis Rotary Club
and former member of the Board of Directors at Klinger Lake Country
Club. He has also served as legal counsel and Board Member of Habitat
for Humanity of St. Joseph County. John has served as an Elder of
the First Presbyterian Church of Sturgis, Chairman of the Presbyterian
Church Foundation and Chairman of the Pastor Nominating Committee.
He was a co-chair of the Citizen’s Committee for the Sturgis
Public Schools Bond Issue and continues to be active with the Sturgis
Public Schools. John is an active participant with the Sturgis Hospital
and its Foundation and has consistently contributed to recreational
and educational matters within the community for many years.
